About Me

My name is Devaansh Banga, but you can call me Dev. As a multicultural individual with roots in India, I’ve lived in both Italy and Thailand, which has shaped my global perspective. I am deeply passionate about computer science, artificial intelligence, and software development. From a young age, I was captivated by technology’s power to solve complex problems, which led me to create a variety of projects—from bespoke resource management systems to inventory management software and automated grading tools.

My academic journey reflects my enthusiasm for mathematics and computer science, where I’ve consistently excelled, even earning honors in national competitions.

 

Recently, my interests have expanded into the finance sector, where I’ve applied ML and applied it areas like stock prediction. For instance, I co-authored a research paper on machine learning techniques for stock loss forecasting, a project that deepened my understanding of AI and ML's potential in the financial sector. This research, combined with my practical experience in algorithmic trading, has given me valuable insights into the intersection of AI and finance.

NASA Hackathon Organiser

I co-organized a NASA-themed hackathon that brought together over 800 participants to innovate using NASA's real-world datasets. My role spanned coordinating logistics, managing sponsor outreach, and securing approximately $20,000 in sponsorships. The event showcased participants’ creative applications of AI and machine learning, and it was incredible to witness diverse solutions aimed at space exploration and sustainability.

I developed a bespoke resource management system tailored for IB students, designed to streamline the storage and retrieval of online educational resources. This system allows students to upload resources, categorize them using specific criteria, and later search through a pooled database shared by the entire class. It features a robust admin section for oversight and management, ensuring that resources are organized and accessible to then enhance the overall learning experience.

School management App for local schools.

I developed a school management app specifically tailored for local schools with limited resources, enabling them to adopt a modern digital infrastructure. This intuitive app streamlines administrative tasks, enhances communication between teachers, students, and parents, and supports academic management with features like attendance tracking, grade reporting, and resource allocation—all designed to be accessible and user-friendly.

Stock loss forecasting Machine Learning Research paper

I co-authored a research paper titled "Evaluating Machine Learning Techniques for Stock Loss Forecasting" in collaboration with Dr. Sourabh Jain, a professor at IIIT. The research focused on predicting stock losses using historical data, analyzing the relationship between stock losses and firm locations, and achieving an impressive prediction accuracy of 99.87% with the best-performing algorithm. I had the opportunity to present this work at a conference held at Amity College, and it has been well-received in the academic community. The paper is also set to be published in an IEEE journal.

ReTech Founder

I co-founded the ReTech Club, a community-driven initiative focused on refurbishing old technology to give it a second life. By collecting unused devices from students, teachers, and parents, we repaired and repurposed them for donation to underprivileged communities. Within a few months, the club raised over $3,000 worth of technology, with our latest donation valued at approximately 100,000+ THB. Through this project, we aimed to reduce electronic waste while bridging the digital divide.

Algorithmic trading

I developed and implemented algorithmic trading strategies using MultiCharts software, coding custom power language algorithms based on historical data to optimize trades. These strategies achieved impressive annual returns ranging from 20% to 60%, showcasing the potential of automated decision-making in financial markets.
